Okay I got your attention and you are wondering what the hell I am talking about. If you are a musician and you want web presence than places like myspace, reverbnation, and facebook are not great tools for you. When a club owner, a record label or even media are seeking information about you on the net and cannot find it you have than missed the boat. Reverbnation, Facebook and Myspace are okay to build a fan base but not web presence.

Why would I say such a thing? It’s because I want all musicians to have a fair shake. These social networks keep everything in house and do not allow for your post about shows, blogs or even videos or photos to be shared as information on the internet.

Yes if you look up your band name on any search engine like google for example. Ok all you can find on the net is links to your profiles but nothing elses then that is not good at all. For example do a search for the likes of Pink Floyd, Metallica or even Madonna and there will be hundreds if not thousands of pages for these artists. Now do one on yourself and if there are only a few links than you are not on the right path.

How do I get on the right path? Simple… Set up an official website a blog on like blogger or word press, use our website or set up a band profile on Google+. It is important to use tools like meta tags on you videos, pictures and music. Google+ does not allow for tagging but anything posted on Google+ gets placed on the search engines almost instantly.

But just having a website or a blog will not be enough update your website often post a blog a least once a week, talk about your thoughts what you are doing post some new pics or music. Follow these easy steps and you are on your way to be seen and heard. Good luck and will see you on the web.
