Profile Information

Bio
Sankara is a rock band based in South Wales founded in 2010 by Gareth Jones, Vinden Wylde (formerly of The Reasoning), Jay MacDonald and Rhayn Jooste (formerly of Bluehorses).
Once upon a time there was a Welsh folk-goth-psychedelic-metal band called Bluehorses. They released five albums, 2 live videos/dvds and played lots of folk and rock festivals all over Europe. The band ended in 2008, leaving guitarist Jay MacDonald & bassist Rhayn Jooste to look for something else to do. In 2009 a progressive rock band called the Reasoning decided to part ways with... their co-lead vocalist / keyboard player Gareth Jones and drummer Vinden Wylde. Gareth and Vinden were founder members and played on the first two Reasoning albums as well as on numerous tours. Gareth and Jay were old friends, having played together in various local bands over the years. Jay had also helped out as a guitarist for the Reasoning on a European club tour after Bluehorses imploded....and that's how Sankara was born.

Imagine Lady Gaga getting gang-banged in a lift by the Deftones while Keith Richards and Lemmy sip tea and watch from the sidelines. That's a great image, isn't it? Unfortunately Sankara sound almost nothing like that. What they do sound like, however, is a '70's influenced rock band with melodic pop sensibilities who occasionally like to get slightly progressive. Perhaps the Killers channeling Led Zeppelin or Elton John fronting UFO? I'm sure you get the idea. One of the defining principles laid down when the band formed was that there shouldn't be a generic or homogeneous Sankara songwriting style. The songs and overall band sound will naturally evolve because of the individual sounds and playing styles of Gareth, Jay, Rhayn and Vinden.

Welcome to my Surf City Ashram/Asylum  & thank you for letting me be your friend here on MRR !!!!!

I love everything ~ I will never deny you !

The challenges that we now face together are best achieved through the personal inspiration that will communicate the fresh ideas, that will ultimately guide our journey to a destination beyond any individuals wildest dreams.

In a world where reality has become obscured in the mimicry of following the safer trends set down by ones predecessors ~ the true path of artistic integrity lies in the blazing of ones own path with an originality that will define the new perspectives soon to be recognized as the very perceptions realized by the very ones who will follow.

I admonish each of my brethren to listen to the inner voice within and seek out that unique vision that only lies inside each of you as an individual ~ as this is the creativity that will bring the greatest rewards to the commonwealth of our collective.

Peace love & respect .
