I'm the guitarrist/composer of the prog-rock band "FramePictures", from Porto, Portugal.
I entered the world of electric guitar when I was 14 years old, fueled by rock 'n roll records, now legendary, that totally blew my mind at the time. I grew up with the counsciousness that the guitar is a direct form of feeling expression and artistic comunication par excellence.
Using guitarrists such as Steve Vai, John Petrucci and Joe Satriani as references, I researched deeply enough into the roots of rock 'n roll guitar playing to find that music from legends such as Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Ritchie Blackmore, Robert Fripp and much more were the very foundations from where my own musical character grew. Alongside wizards in the likes of Eddie Van Halen, Alex Lifeson and Paul Gilbert, I picked other strong influences to my personal style in musicians from other fields, such as Pat Metheny, Al Di Meola and John Scofield. I think this gave me tools to stretch the boundaries of my playing and made my comunication through the guitar easier.
I consider myself a musician highly motivated in evolution and a non-conformist, always aimed to the unexpected with the right measure of old-school guitar vocabulary. I like to explore and experiment but still I remain faithful to what I consider to be my own identity as a guitar player.
My career began in 1996, when I was lead-guitarrist for the hard-rock combo "Morgana". Between 1998 and 2004, I invested hard in research and self-teaching. That's about when I started to teach guitar to young music students and to assist some stabilished guitar players in Porto in rock 'n roll guitar methodology. That is still my ocupation when I'm off FramePictures' duties, a band that took off in 2004.
Official date - 2010/02/22: FramePictures signed to Galileo Records. The post-prog rock band from the northern Portuguese city Oporto will release their debut album through this prolific independent Swiss label. "Remember It" is available worldwide! http://www.galileo-records.com
