Following their reunion announcement last week, Van Halen revealed what supposed to an official cover art and release date for their new studio album. The band took the advantage of New Year's Eve national broadcasting on Times Square in New York City by putting the info on a giant LED billboard standing on the hot spot.
The artwork was clearly visible during Justin Bieber's "Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve" performance. It boasts an image of a train from New York Central System, one of the U.S. largest railroads which served most of the Northeast during the 1800s. The number, "2.7.12", attached on the picture is believed to be a due date for the album.
The upcoming album itself is going to feature original lead singer David Lee Roth. It will mark the band's first-ever studio release with Roth since their "1984" CD. The first single from the reunion album is expected to come out on January 10 along with the premiere of its accompanying music video.
The album release will be followed by a reunion tour which first round of the dates are expected to be announced sometime soon. Roth will join Eddie Van Halen and Alex Van Halen along with Eddie's son, Wolfgang Van Halen, who fill in the spot left by original bassist, Michael Anthony.
