Most mainstream music is derivative of whatever Artist preceded the new one. This restricts originality to the point where everything sounds the same, and can be linked to a previous Artist's success. This makes it much easier and less expensive for the record label to market a new Artist. The cost to Artists is their creativity and ingenuity, which can a bit demoralizing for some. However, I would encourage all aspiring Artists to break the mold...as the recording industry has made it your responsibility to promote yourselves and develop your own following. If you have the cash...invest in yourselves, remain independent and retain 100% of the profits! Rock on!

I agree with Maggie Seligman. I believe it takes hearing more than one of my originals to really be able to appreciate what I do. I very much support all true Artists why defy definition! It shows much character! My very best to you all! :-) Also, if there are any musicians out there who wouldn't feel threatened by co-leading a band project with me...please do contact.
