Comment by Maggie Seligman on May 16, 2011 at 9:34am I perform a lot of what I call composed folk vs. traditional folk music as well as my own music. Some singer/songwriters/folk artists avoid covering songs by others (i.e., the great folk composers, such as Dylan, Phil Ochs, Tim Hardin, etc. etc. etc.), but I see it as the way to keep the music alive, in the same way that playing traditional/Americana keeps music alive. Any thoughts?
