A Message From Phil Kenmore of Y&T

To all of my dear friends and fans around the world.

Up to now you haven't heard much information (other than about my extreme back pain) because there really hasn't been much until now. I hated leaving you all in the dark but I didn't want to say anything until there was something conclusive to say. We do have a lot more information now. The number one thing you need to know is that I have cancer. It wasn't absolutely formally diagnosed until yesterday.

With the bad news I also got the good news that along with surgery and treatments, I will be back rockin' and rollin'. I'll be getting a hip replacement as well as back surgery, which means I'll also be more agile. The doctor said that this is treatable and I'll be walking out of this place and I'll be able to go on the road and do everything I need to do to continue my rock 'n' roll life, in due time.

I wanted to thank everyone for your well wishes. I've been sitting here in the hospital reading all of the things that you've all posted online, and I want you to know it means so very much to me to see how much I am loved, supported, and missed. I can really feel the love as I'm reading. I love reading your posts on the web site forum, and, in fact, I need to hear it. From here on out, whatever thoughts and feelings you have, please know that I wish that I could personally respond to each and every one of you, but I'm not able to right now.

Brad--thank God for Brad! I'm so grateful that he stepped in to help keep Y&T on tour, bringing Facemelter to the people while I was ordered to the hospital. Right now I think he's the best guy on earth!

I'll be released from the hospital within three-to-four weeks, continuing treatment, and at some point, I'll be returning to the road. Keep the love and good vibes flowing. Do me a favor and go out and see the band now--Y&T is kicking serious ass--and I'll be back rocking with you all soon.

Phil

Musician and Entrepreneur Tony Arnold looking to embark on Inner Space

Tony Arnold hoping to reshape the minds of young musicians with his new project but to do so he needs your vote. The Inner Space Project seeks to establish a resource center devoted to the exposure of Art Rock to a wider youth audience, and to the inspiration of more adventurous musical composition and performance. By providing a free forum for all Art Rock traditions both past and present, it's our goal to show young musicians what's come before, as well as what's possible. With every passing year, Athens becomes more of an arts-centered community, and its University of Georgia student enrollment of over thirty thousand students serves as a fertile breeding ground for budding musicians seeking more creative modes of artistic expression than the limited idioms currently in vogue. By exposing the creatively-curious to non-commercial Art Rock formats, The Inner Space endeavors to inspire a widening of musical horizons and an increase in instrumental disciplines.

BLIND GUARDIAN - At the Edge of time. Out on July 30th 2010!

BLIND GUARDIAN are back! The legends created an impressive record called “At The Edge Of Time”. Hansi Kürsch (vocals), André Olbrich (guitar), Marcus Siepen (guitar) and Frederik Ehmke (drums & percussions) prove with their new longplayer that they have been and still are among the Melodic/Prog-protagonists in harder music.

The quartet, which is driven by drummer Frederik Ehmke since 2005, lives for the fantasy-metier. But not only in music the band is successful. 2008 they exclusively composed a song for the the computer game “Sacred 2: Fallen Angel” which was performed in the game on stage by the band programmed as animated characters. For the music in the same called radio play the band got the price for the best music.

But there’s another strike coming up. “At The Edge Of Time” is the title of the new masterpiece and once again the focus is on bright and clear sounding orchestral compositions, that almost don’t need synthetic sounds.

Fantasy- and folk-flair is spread by “Curse My Name”. Beautiful strings- and flute-arrangements make this song a worthy follower for “Bard’s Song” – one of the greatest hits of BLIND GUARDIAN.
“ We want to define ourselves with every release on a new level”, says mainman Hansi Kürsch.
After the latest masterpieces “A Night At The Opera” and “A Twist In The Myth” there couldn’t have been any critic who could imagine that BLIND GUARDIAN will take them into other spheres. And the basis of this will be that strong that the die-hard-critics will have to move…

Fiendish Is out of Print

According to Phideaux I just sold the last of "Fiendish". It's not that impressive because we only pressed about 3500 of them and I must have given 1000 away for free. It was a strange new world back then and I had a notion that people would accept a free gift and give it a listen. I didn't realize that most people just wanted anything that was free.

... And then the copies started turning up for sale on Amazon/Ebay. Those copies that I'd paid to send to people ended up being sold by the very people who wanted the free copies. A lesson learned! Now, I just watch as people upload the torrents -- it makes it much more convenient for me...

But, I have fond memories of Fiendish. It was a difficult birth and I'm still not happy with some faux piano and faulty vocal takes that adorn the album. I was thinking that the remastered edition would correct some of that. Perhaps it will. I suppose I'll have to include the original mix, but I plan to do some remixing and remastering when that album comes to being reissued.

Unfortunately that time is loooong away. There are so many more projects that take precedence.

So, as I sent out the last copies of Fiendish today to Canada, I reflect on that album's magical birth. I had such high hopes for it, and I really believed it was a fine album. It was the best I could do at the time. It's quirky, good keyboard sounds, classic but futuristic and doomy.

I really love it when it's doomy. For me, I still don't know if the song Soundblast is as intense as it could be. One day I will remix that song and I hope it will kill.

Phideaux, the band, the man, the music has come a long way since this humble beginning.

That said we still have a few copies left, Only $9.99 + Shipping (BUY NOW)

Frontiers Records to release the anticipated KISKE-SOMERVILLE collaboration album

Produced by Mat Sinner – a highlight of the season is coming !
Eighteen months in the making, some of the most beautiful voices in the scene, a massive production, one hell of an album, two videoclips and one documentary… The Kiske-Somerville collaboration album has all the trademarks of a real event for the Rock fans in 2010, and the release on September 24th in Europe and October 12th in the USA mark some dates that should be noted in every fan agendas.

The collaboration between vocalist Michael Kiske (Helloween, Place Vendome) and American singer Amanda Somerville was born as a concept put together thanks to the input of Frontiers Records President Serafino Perugino. “I did a duet with a female singer on 'Breathing Water' by Indigo Dying”, explains Michael Kiske. “It was so nice that he offered me a chance to make an album of all duet songs with a famous female singer."

This exciting album sees Mat Sinner (Primal Fear, Sinner) and Magnus Karlsson (Starbreaker, Primal Fear) handling most of the songwriting (with more contributions from Sander Gommans formerly of After Forever and Amanda Sormeville herself), with Sinner overseeing the production & mix at various recording studios in Europe.

Amanda Somerville is the American singer-songwriter and vocal coach who was tapped to replace Epica vocalist Simone Simons on the band's North American tour with Symphony X due to Simons' health issues. Amanda was also featured on Kamelot's latest release, "Ghost Opera", the Rock Opera “Aina” and recently toured with Avantasia.

“When Mat Sinner asked me if I wanted to be the "other half" of the face of the album, I was very honored and quite looking forward to working more closely with Michael Kiske” tells Amanda. “We'd both been involved in various projects over the years together, such as Aina and Avantasia, but it was always through third parties and we didn't sing together like we do here. It's not for nothing that Michael's a legend in the scene. He's got a very unique voice, a special delivery of his performance and is a wonderful person on top of it all. This has been a great experience all across the board!”. Kiske adds “To sing together with the gifted and beautiful Amanda was another genius idea of Serafino! And it was a most pleasant experience to meet her. Amanda has by far the best female voice I have heard for ages. And the album is a killer.”

Two videoclips were filmed for the songs "Silence" and "If I Had A Wish" in Nurnberg, Germany. Joining Kiske and Somerville for the shoot were bassist and main composer Mat Sinner, guitarist Sander Gommans (After Forever), drummer Rami Ali and keyboardist Jimmy Kresic (Voodoo Circle). The clips were directed by Martin Mueller of RCN TV, who previously helmed the videoclip production for Unheilig, Subway To Sally, Helloween, U.D.O. and Gotthard.

The digital only release of the single, "Silence" on August 20th, will precede the release of the full-length CD.
